20ft pallet wide containers are the same external size as standard 20ft containers, but internally they measure approximately 4 inches (10.2 cm) wider. Pallet wide containers are specially designed to enable the efficient stowage of large quantities of Euro pallets in a single tier, maximising the available space and eliminating the unused space that can occur in a standard width container.
Euro pallets are manufactured to a standard size (regulated by the European Pallet Association) and used for transporting goods throughout Europe. Wherever possible, euro pallets should be used in a pallet wide container because they provide an exact fit and the risk of cargo moving or being damaged during transit is completely eliminated. Pallet wide containers are ‘heavy tested’ and payload capacity is not an issue.
