Details
For cargo that would be impossible to load via the end doors of a container, an open top container offers easy access and loading by crane or tipper. A 40ft open top container comes with soft or hard top and is a specialised intermodal container designed for the transportation of large items such as wood, steel and glass that need to be carefully loaded and unloaded by crane. Voluminous raw materials such as coal can also be quickly and easily loaded and unloaded by tipper. 40ft open hard top containers are also ideal for out-of-gauge cargo such as oversized machinery.
Once loading is complete, a forklift or crane is used to fit the hard top, a separate steel lid, to make the container secure and watertight for transit or storage.
